May not be related but I get reflux with excrutiating pain under the jaw but no loss of voice but it makes swallowing difficult with an inclination to choke when eating. Most painful when I retire at night but does also exist during the day.. The cure was Nexium [esomeprazole] AstraZeneca, prescription medicine.
