Don't know if it is the same stuff but when I was workin in a rubber plant 30 so ago we used to get a product from Indonesia called block crepe.
Came in 250lb. sorta squares and was kinda translucent brown. Memorable because you heated it up by running it through an 8ft. mill and if you wearn't careful when you cut it off it would whip around under the mill and crack you in the nads. Ahh memories!
