The volume of water will make no difference. I know it seems that way, but it's not. Try a different size tubing if you want. A certain amount of vacuum will raise water a certain amount no matter what size pipe you use, but there is a limit that I can't remember now, maybe 11 or 15 feet. That's why they have to use a jet pump or a submersible pump to pump water over that depth. Here is another manometer link.
