I've got a tilt-bed car hauler, and no place to put the license on the back, so have had the plate turned sideways and bolted to the fender.
When I went to get license this year, the cute little gal said she noticed I had a tilt trailer, did I want the "little plate?" Turns out they have small plates, just a little larger than a motorcycle plate, so it fits on the fender horizontally. Don't know if your state has them.
