Another way to test that would have been to touch the pos. probe of your meter to the pos. battery clamp or better yet to the solenoid where it connects (assuming it connects there) then turn on the ign. and try to crank. You would see the voltage drop significantly. Quicker and easier than drilling a hole then trying to measure resistance.
