You should be OK especially if you do NOT let the tape overlap the end of the fitting and get (directly) into the stream...leave a couple threads clear from the end.
I've seen that stuff...teflon tape...come in different thicknesses. To me, the really thin stuff is a PIA to handle and would probably need an extra couple wraps to be effective. Try to get some of the thicker stuff.
You'll need to re-wrap if you have to remove the fitting and you'll know more about how much tape to use.
