What kind of 2-bit outfit are you doing business with? We have literally spent millions to have computer controlled scales, testers and printers to receive and ship grain. Other than acts of God and war, contracts are resolved on a timely basis. MN may be different, but in IL they have tightened up the regulations and made it to the point that the elevator is responsible for seller performance to avoid being written up by regulators. I tell people often that elevators are regulated nearly as closely as banks. If the books don't balance at the end of the day someone stays until it is figured out.
IL has one of the best elevator programs in the country, many states have modeled their program after the one in IL. It protects the farmer and the elevator from questionable practices and has saved a lot of farmers from bankruptcy. A truck load of beans can be worth almost $15,000, it ain't chump change any more.
