On a good year, one of our small fields a 5 acre patch, will produce 15 700lb bales of straw, though this is from Oats, after harvest. Things that affect the straw yield are fertilizer and plant height, as well as how low the combine cuts it, I've tracked the quantity of straw on this field for 3 years, and it ranged from 10 to 15 bales, latter being a good year, with some extra fertilizer applied when the spray outfit applied weed killer.
