If you have a vigorous growing plant with a large, meaty root, split it into 2-3 pieces during the late winter or early spring. Replant the new pieces to other locations. Each piece should become a new plant. Growing and caring for rhubarb depends on the state and climate you"re in. In Michigan, I can grow it in full sun. In Georgia, the summer sun and heat will burn it up, so I grow it on the north side of the garage, mostly shady, and it does well. I plan to move some plants into the full sun and provide drip irrigation and see how it does. Cut the flower stalks down as they develop. Don"t let them flower, as this saps the plant"s energy and you"ll get little edible rhubarb.
