: : i have a steering problem on the right wheel. i know i have to replace the pitman arm and the sector shaft, question, can the sector shaft be removed with out completly breaking down the steering gear unit? : You can remove the sector shaft without disassembling the unit but if you have to replace the sector shaft you may have to replace both of them because the gear teeth will not match up with the original. It all depends on where you buy. The new replacement sector shafts have heavier gear teeth than the original. In the event that you have to replace both, I recommend that you completely disassemble the unit and check the bearings as well. : GEO I have found the pitman arm and the sector shaft available at my local new holland dealer (pricey). Are they available trough other sources?
