I have a 99 Superduty, drove it 60,000 miles stock, lots of towing.
I then added a Superchip, and a Banks exhaust. I have the chip set at its "Tow Safe" setting. I never use the power for "evil", racing starts etc. I tow a very heavy 5th wheeler, and a heavy gooseneck. Rarely use the truck except to tow.
Very big difference. I roll down the interstate and rarely downshift from OD. Mileage is up, 1 1/2 to 2 mpg towing. 3 to 4 mpg when running unloaded. It is much less work to drive as I flow with the traffic and enjoy the ride.
As said earlier, I rarely drive the truck unloaded, however did make a trip last year to Ohio to pickup a trailer, ran 5 over the speed limit all the way there, got 20.5 mpg.
