Yes - roughly... Bottom of the hole tends to run around 400 feet down - with static water level at 230-300...
I'm sure a few big engines would be much more efficient than all the thousands of 454 Chevy's (typical well engine) pumping 500 gal/min out here, but I agree it would be a huge undertaking with a lot of ongoing expense.
We are almost 4000 feet in our county in Oklahoma, so it would be quite a lift...
We'd love to have the water as much as those poor folks getting flooded out would like to get rid of it, though...
