Place a barley straw flake or two around the pond shoreline every 30-40 feet just under water. As it decomposes the straw releases polyphenols which inhibit growth and kills many aquatic pond plants. Effective for 90-120 days if placed early in season. Fully established or rooted aquatics will probably take chemical control. Barley straw is rare and hard to find.
