Last weekend my wife woke me up at 5:30am with the shout of "COWS ARE EVERYWHERE!". I rolled out of bed and sure enough it was like a scene out of that Hitchcock movie The Birds, only the birds were cows surrounding the house. 3 dozen mamas and 2 dozen calves mowing the lawn for me on their way to pasture. I was planning on letting them out of the calving pasture to the larger pasture that day anyway, but not by way of my lawn. Luckily, I had left ALL the gates open, not just the one locking them in the calving pasture.. They moved themselves out to pasture even before I could get out there to issue my first cuss word at them. I'm just worried about the precedent I may have set by accidentally leaving that gate open. Creatures of habit as they are, and that lawn grass looked pretty tasty :)
