Well, it looks like the viral outrage via these social media sites may have paid off. As of today the city has reversed their decision to keep the money and are reviewing reversing their bs policy as well. Having said that, they did say they are going to keep it another 90 days to see if anyone claims the money since all the media coverage recently brought light to the subject. lol. They really are some rat bastards.
As far as Ashley goes, the community has been overwhelmingly supportive of this little girl and her display of character. So much so that Chase Bank has set up an account to accept all the donations that folks are giving to her in order to help with tax issues. There has been a scholarship fund set up too and several donations of various sorts. She was on the radio during my drive in and it seems the thing that got her most excited was the free pass for her and her family to go to Six Flags. ;)
I figured I'd pass this on. It made me feel better. I still realize this city is full of smucks down at city hall, but they didn't get away with this one. Thanks guys!
