The price is about market value. Maybe a little bit of a deal. That would depend on the loader.

The good and bad of IH 1066.
1)They have a great engine, very good power.
2)The cabs on the 66 series where not great. Getting in and out is difficult. They are noisy. The JD sound guard cab was part of the reason IH had trouble surviving in the late 1970s.
3)It is nice having 540 and 1000 rpm pto without changing anything.
4) The transmission shifter can be a problem if it is worn. I don"t like them for loader work.
5) The standard TA issues. You said this one is about new so that should last awhile.

I would check it all out real good. Then try to dicker some on the price. The 1066 are a little softer in price than they where just two years ago. A friend buys and sells them. He was having not trouble selling them with new paint in the $11-12 range two years ago. He has two now that are just as nice as the others and has not had a buyer for $9500. The cab actually will make them bring less around here. The loader will add value. So his 10k price is not out of line.

Today's Featured Article - Show Coverage: Godfrey, Illinois Country Days - by Cindy Ladage. Except for last fourth of July's Old Gold show in Springfield, Illinois, I don't remember when it was so hot. Nevertheless, the heat didn't keep vendors and visitors alike from enjoying the third annual Country Day's Event. Jane Elliott said the event was originally a one man show. "Barry Seiler, owner of Country Town Farm Supply store used to invite people up to the Johne Deere store. He would give hats and a free meal for everyone that brings a tractor." Elliott said while this ... [Read Article]
