Take a look at the contacts and terminals on the motor starter. Then work them as if air pressure was rising and falling above and below the set points. It's possible to wire in a dead short across a contactor that looks ok. I just don't feel comfortable with hit and miss experimenting with electricity. Or taking short cuts. The previous owner here apparently had no idea that L16 box connectors were supposed to be used. Too many opportunities for loss of $$$, injury or death.
