Without getting into the whole "lifetime warranty" argument, I might suggest that you try a shoe repair or upholstery shop where they are used to working with leather and could possibly re-grip your hammer. Also might check a sporting good store that repairs tennis racket grips. It's really not that hard to do.
(OK, just had to comment on the warranty thing: you might win in court if you decided to sue them but if I were you, I'd let it go and if you ARE that upset, just do as you promised and buy another brand. )
