We use alot of Estwing hammers, but I do not alow them in cold weather / sub zero. I was fortunate enough that the head fell off as I sat it down on top of a step ladder---don't ask why. It was a framing hammer, and I had just been smacking away full swing over my workers head just as I sat it down -- it broke (off completly) and landed on top of the step ladder.
Of course I know any other brand could fail, I use tools for a living, but we have broken numerous Estwing hammers abusing them.
I got to run a $120.00 hammer last spring one day. The guys wife bought it for him for fathers day. It was sweet to say the least, looked like a Estwing, but I didn't ask because of the price. We don't use a hammer like we did fourty years ago. Automation is a good thing.
