With the engine plate bolted on the back of the engine, if you look at a high torque starter, and cut the engine plate for the starter nose cone, you mite get away with not widening the rails. it will still bolt to the engine, or the engine plate, depends on what type of starter you can get your hands on. The 4speed bellhosing method, just have to notch the frame rails on one side, it is moved forward farther, and away from the M bellhousing and where the rails bolt on the bellhousing. giving it a bit more room. not much, but something to work with.
