i have been TOLD both ways. the correct way is as stated below glow plugs then crank becuase of the terrible strain on batteries and starter. esp on a diesel nothing nothing will suppliment rpms when cranking. not even either (but either and glow plugs are a real no no but my point is rpms is critical) if you are in a super pinch have good batteries AND a charger jumper on it (like i said real pinch w/good batteries but if its 20 below and for some reason its not pluged in or your kid took the cord off the blockheater for something else and then didnt plug it in ******** kid and the lady has to get out to go to work and you have to plow the drive way w/a charger or jumpers on plugs and cranking is still better then no plugs and either if necesary plugs and cranking may need to be done in extreme cases. as for how to check a glow plug dvom resistance specified by manufacture.
