Good topic since tractors AND people are what it's all about. I'm 58, wife is 56. We grew up in a small town in southwestern NY state and since 1966 have lived in the Southern Tier near Binghamton on 50 acres. Four kids, youngest just graduated from high school in 2000. Wife has spent 25+ years in the health care field as Delivery Room nurse and health educator. I was an English teacher for 20 years and for the last 15 years have been technical writer and supervisor of the technical publications department for a large manufacturer of air tools. Will semi-retire on August 1, do a little of this, a little of that and enjoy my tractor pursuits.
Got hooked on this as a little kid when my Dad (supervised logging crews) took me down into what is now the Allgeheny National Forest. A bunch of International TD6's, TD9's and a TD14 were running around, an image I can still see very clearly. Hung around my Grandfather's farm (Ford 2N), worked on my Uncle's farm (lots of time on a Farmall M and MH 44), bought my own place and a JD MT (sold it), bought a JD B that I used for quite awhile (sold it) and bought a barely used 53 Farmall Super C. Bought a 46 2N (for therapeutic reasons) and refurbished it with my sons help. Also did the same to a JD 70 and we are working on a 53 Farmall Super H with a 54 Farmall Super M in the barn for a future project. Bought a 56 International R-200 ex pumper/tanker truck from the local fire department and we are getting that ready for hauling tractors to shows, parades and pulls.
I enjoy this forum and I'm constantly impressed with the knowledge and expertise that is out there, and, the willingness of everyone to share information and give help.
Thanks to all of you who have helped me and I hope that we will continue to communicate, share information and help each other.

Today's Featured Article - The David Brown Rose Badge - by Samuel Kennedy. In the 13th century civil war was raging in England. Two English noblemen were involved in a conflict which became known as the War of the Roses. The Duke of York had as his emblem a white rose and the Earl of Lancaster had a red rose. Today the white rose is the official emblem of the county of Yorkshire and the red rose has been adopted by the neighboring county of Lancashire. ... [Read Article]
