I think the other guy is right - Ditch the old blade and get a rear mounted blade. A blade on the 3 point is useful for many other things besides plowing snow. If he spends a lot of time welding up a snow blade, that's all he'll have - A snow blade. But a rear mounted blade is good for dirt work, levelling gravel driveways, etc.
