Ertl is just a name now. No one from the Ertl family works their anymore. I think Ertl is now owned by Tomy. For a while the 1/32 toys were Ertl/Britains while the 1/16 toys were Ertl/Racings Champions.
Ertl bought the Eska company in the 60's that made pedal tractors. In the 80's they bought MINI TOYS. A company started by one of Fred Ertls sons.
Joe Ertl is still running his toy company, Scale Models. He is past retirement age. Will be interesting what happens there. I think Scale Models is the only farm toys made in the USA now.
I really liked the Precision Classic line Ertl started in 1990. I have over 30. The very first one I bought came from the JD dealer and cost $75.00. Now you can't buy a Precision for under $250-300. I don't have any from the last series Precision Elite.
I am excited about the new Precision 620 nf row crop coming out. It will fill a hole in my Precision Classic line. Hoping the 620 will be followed by a 60 nf and a styled A nf.
The Farmall Classics need more from the super series. Super H, Super C, Super MTA. An F-12 would be nice for the F-20 series.
