Allis Chalmer knives

I'm looking for any information one might have on knives made by Allis Chalmer in Illinois for the men going to war in WWII? My husband's grand-father received one of these knives and it has been passed down to him. From what I have been told it was made out of a file. It was inscribed with his military ID # and name. The handle is made out of leather and clear resin/plastic disks. If you have any info or have heard of these knives please let me know
