With regard to Allen at Catfish - you’re talking b*llocks man - the Mamod Traction engine was introduced in the autumn of 1963 as the TE1 it subsenquently became the TE1a in 1967 with the additon of a direction control. Initial TE1s were only uni-directional, but did have a very useful exhaust throttle stop cock for adjusting speed
