I take that the timing mark that you are looking for is the one on the crank gear. The gear if removed during the grinding process must have the thrust side of it facing out or toward the left main bearing. The timing mark for timing the camshaft is on the opposite side of the thrust side of gear. This mark can be seen by looking down through the top hole of the crankcase where you enter to service the connecting rods. In other words the timing marks are aligned and viewed from the inside. The marks are a small light center punch mark. Hope this helps. Good Luck!! Dave
