I have a 5580 for sale in N. Texas. It has 3 springs and rolls a 2000# 5x6 bale....if you run it full; can stop rolling any time you want to make a 5x5 or whatever suits you. If you run any big baler full, you will need the PTO hp to spin the roll. IF you bale 5x5's with a 5x6 baler you can do it with 50 hp. Don't know the hp of your 400. I run with a 4010 JD which is around 75 hp. It loafs till I get over 5' dia. Then you can feel the governor kicking in as the roll gets to the full 6' which I normally don't do; just wanted to show my neighbors that it'll do it if you wanted it to. Besides, running a full dia. bale is just hard on everything so why do it. If you are doing custom baling, you can knock a buck off the price of rolling and put money in your pocket for the repairs that you don't have to do (plus the down time that doesn't occur). The discount will help you compete with those that run their equip. to the limit. My 2c Mark

Elliott said while this
