turned out to be a cracked poppit valve (relief
valve) that made very odd things happen in the
hyd system.

Without knowing more about what loader &
what hyd system (standard Ford, or front
crankshaft pump?) you have, hard to say any
more about it. Is the tractor trying real hard to
lower the bucket (relief valve going?) or is it
acting like a single-acting system, no positive
action?

You didn't happen to bend a cylinder while it
was extended, did you?
