Dad has a 656 gear drive. We use it almost exclusively for 40+ acres. Pulls a 4-16 plow at 6 mph, no sweat. Also pulls a 14' vibrashank w/ leveler and crow-foot roller. Probably my favorite cultivating tractor because of the power steering, but haven't tried an M yet either. I would think the hydro trans would be your only consideration about a 656..
