That roof style is known as a gambril roof or something like that. This barn was rebuilt in 1918. The old timbers on the ground floor and some of the roof joyce are from the original 1890 barn. The first floor posts are hand hewn oak which was cut down on site. I found the original framing axe in the shop when I tore it down. That axe came in handy breaking ice dams on my Indy roof 2 weeks ago!!
