What you need (as mentioned in someone else's post) is a parts manual if you're gonna be serious about this restoration. I've got one of the CD-ROM manuals and love it. Other folks prefer the paper variety. Are you going to try to restore this thing as an kerosene burner? That's going to be an additional can of worms, because it will require not only that little tank you found, but a special low-compression head, the hotter manifold, and maybe some shutters on the radiator. A very high % of these tractors probably ended up being run on gasoline. The "distillate" head that came on these tractors was a low-compression head that would handle the low octane of the fuel. That translates into a noticeable power decrease when run on gasoline. I've got a '43 H that came as a distillate tractor, and it never produced close to full hp on gasoline until we put high altitude pistons in it. As old as your 300 is, it's likely been overhauled at LEAST once, so you'll need to find out what pistons you have now. You can likely put almost any 300 head on it if you intend to run it on gasoline.

Still another is the alternator. No doubt using the original generator keeps the tractor pure, but for thos
