I've been annoyed by the handle on my crank rubbing my hand raw not to mention that it had rusted away in a couple spots and if I didn't have on any gloves and wasn't being careful I took the chance of it cutting me. I was tinkering around in the garage last night and decided to fix the problem. I cut off the old spinner handle by splitting it length wise with a cutoff wheel on my angle grinder. I couldn't find anything the exact size but I discovered that a 3/4" copper coupling fit tight over the handle. I drove one down past the groove in the metal and then another one flush with the end of the handle. These are acting as bushings for the outer handle. I then used a short piece of 1" L copper as the handle. I marked where the groove was first around the circumference of the pipe. After I slide it on I used a length of 5/16" solid rod and hammered the groove in the pipe while rolling it. The spinner works great and actually with the larger diameter than the original spinner it's more comfortable to hold on to.
