I hear a lot more whining on this site from people complaining about the correct police than I actually hear from the correct police.

You also sort of asked the same question about the regulator, which Bob answered. Bob did not respond to your question about the generator. You said the generator was rebuilt, but did not say whether the "pro's" had even seen the regulator.
Based on what you posted about the generator, we have no idea whether it is an A or B and whether it belongs with that regulator. Gene rightly pointed out that the generator is not the original therefore we have no way to tell what it is or how it should be wired. That is the ONLY answer that can be given to your question, given the information you provided. He was just trying to help and doesn't deserve to get ragged on over it.
In your add-on reply, you indicate the generator is set for 8.7 volts. Since there is no such adjustment for a generator but is for a regulator, I assume your "pros'" made that adjustment to your regulator when they rebuilt the generator. If so, they probably made sure they were the same type. If so, you can go ahead and wire it up as an "A" circuit. If that assumption is wrong, wire it up anyway. If the smoke comes out, you can start over.
