Good robust machines, still relatively modern, pleasurable to drive, and most wearable parts still available. As others mentioned, diesels in that family are cold-blooded -- not just below freezing but below about 50 degrees F (but otherwise fairly bulletproof). You will want to make sure the ether start solenoid works! Check everything hydraulic, in particular the steering and brakes and PTO clutch. Likely the parking brake will be worn out, somewhat likely the lube pump that moves fluid between the transmission compartments will be weak (and the warning light will be burned out or disconnected). If it has the original wiring harness some of the things on the dash will likely be nonfunctional (but harnesses are available and rewiring can be done in a couple of hours).
