Hi Dave, my brother has a 684 with TA with over 10,000 Hrs on it. Problems he has had has been one clutch job, parking brake destroyed by hired help and same with TA destroyed by using it as a down shifting going down hills. Still runs great and uses no oil. He had a TA eliminator kit installed about 5 years ago. As some one else mentioned the d-239 is a hard starter when cold (below freezing). Works great with a tank heater.
