We have a 544 utility with a transmission driven hydrolic pump (factory), as far as I can remember there is no place for a cam drive pump, I have seen a unit where the pump drives off the crank when these are setup as forklifts. Did yours come with hydrolics deleated? If this pump mounted under the vertical distributer unless it was tiny the drive gears would die quickly, might be enough for power steering, I wouldn't do it even then. If the stock pump died fix it unless your gonna sell the tractor soon.
