Cleaning the clutch housing is a messy job. I use mineral spirits and parts cleaner brush and then spray down with brake clean. These pictures are from a SM that I split last fall to fix the oil leaks. When I took the clutch apart it also needed to be replaced. The rivits that fasten the lining to the disc were starting to wear into the flywheel. I replace the seals on the front of the transmission and also the rear crankshaft seal. Replaceing all of these seals will help keep the clutch housing clean for a long time, I hope.
