My biggest recommendation would be to totally skip the Delco alternator and Install a Hitachi 3-wire (covered in the archives). It is smaller and fits so much better. Hacking up your sheet metal will not be needed. Price for the Hitachi is basically the same if you buying one from Advance, O'Reilly's, Autozone, etc.
Tractor with a mag is amongst the easiest to convert as the ignition is already it own self contained power generating unit and needs nothing.
I used some of Bob M diagrams (Bob has diagrams posted for with mags) and some of Gerry Powell's diagram ideas in my own Farmall M and Farmall h conversions.... (I used a Hitachi on both)
