I went home last night and talked this over more with my dad - he did most of the work on it. I was in college at the time, so I only helped on weekends. I do know that when we put the motor it, we got eveything at a junkyard for the diesel version to put it in - manifolds, backing plate, front cover, air cleaner/canister, water port that distributes water to head(?) - everything that we knew of. We also had a return line put onto the fuel tank. We looked at a 706 with the german in it to see that we replaced everything to make it basically identical. We also had the front cover off once, and then the dealer took it off to check to see that timing gears were right. The 70hp max that they got at the dealership was from messing with the timing while they had it on the dyno. When they had the timing where it was supposed to be it only ran about 62 hp. That's as good as she got. It starts very hard, but we attributed some of that to the timing. New revalation last night - see what you think. The dealer did some more checking, and there is a different injector nozzle between the tractor and the cotton picker. Maybe this could be the problem - different spray pattern or something that does not allow for complete burning. Any thoughts in this. thanks MIKE

Still another is the alternator. No doubt using the original generator keeps the tractor pure, but for thos
