I bought the tractor from the son of the original owner. I've known and respected some of his siblings since the early forties. He worked the tractor a lot in its early days. It remained white for many years but was later painted red (brush) for the reason you state. A lot of the red came off when I pressure washed it, revealing the white...applied directly to bare metal with NO primer. There are a lot of pictures posted to my Photopoint site showing the tractor in various stages of restoration...see link. The serial number (100182) falls well into the early part of the list of demonstrator tractors.
