I understand the reasoning but if you protect your kids from everything they'll grow up knowing nothing. Most of us on this site learned to run tractors as kids and accidents do happen that's why you teach them how to do it properly so the chances of accidents decreases. My Farmall C has the axle mounted drawbar and the swinging drawbar. The axle mount makes a good step for that one anyway. On most you can make up a step and mount it to the axle.
