As long as the block, head, and crank are alright it is fare to say the engine is salvageable cosidering you can find parts. The less you need the better. I have seen locked engines go either way. I have got locked engines running again with no part replacement needed. But I have tore down locked engines where there was no hope to get running again. On the upside, odds are a little in your favor since it was shedded. Especially if it was running when parked in there. My 2 cents.
