I think you can get the whole setup
for doing hay for $5k. We got
setup to do square bales for $3k
or so. You could just get like
an old medium size round baler for
$1k at auction. Then you dont
need such a big tractor to haul them
around with. I would think an
M($1k) would pull one of those round balers
but you would have to check the pto
requirements. I think the big round balers
require like 80hp but the medium ones are
more like 30 to 40hp. A nice sickle bar and
rake to go with it, and you should be
all set.

You could always start out with a square
bale setup and switch over later on.
There is extra satisfaction associated
with baling your own hay and, of course,
you don't have to rely on anyone else.
