These "new" starters originate from the "land of almost right" and most will end up back there in a few short years. There's some knock-off Delco 10SI alternators that probably come across on the same boat and will make a return trip in about the same time period.
Provided the case is good, originals can be rebuilt for ever and ever.
If your flywheel ring gear is in good shape and your cables, battery, and switch are all in good shape and cables properly sized and connected properly and cleanly, I'd say the next step, if purchased recently, should be testing the warranty that accompanies the starter.
