The charging system has nothing to do with it running or not. Matter of fact you can run a engine with out any type of charging system on it as long as the battery has a good charge. That said when it stall check your spark at all 4 plug wires. It needs to be a good blue/white nd jump a 1/4 inch gap or more. If spark is good next pull the carb drain plug and make sure you get a good steady flow of gas out of the carb. Also does choking it help or hurt it
