Yeah he could do that, but he'll regret it. I had an Amish harness shop make up a belt for my 10-20 twenty years ago becuase there was no easy alternative then. Wish I'd looked around a little more. Leather will stretch, and the new belt did, the fan hit the shroud after a while. And that alligator joint produced a bounce in the fan everytime the joint wound over the fan pulley. Forget leather belts and buy one of Rice's endless replacement belts.
