That's the place I was posting about in the first post. Yes there is a splined coupling that joins the clutch shaft and the t/a sun shaft. Maybe when you split the tractor you moved the clutch shaft forward enough for the coupling to fall off into the bottom of the t/a clutch compartment. Can't remember if normally the shaft will move forward enough for the coupling to fall out with the pto drive gear in place though, unless something else give. If there's no coupling look in the bottom for it or pieces of it.
