After tons and tons of sanding with 80 grit then 180 grit I got the cover much better than what it was. Not perfect but it's holding good pressure now. It looked like the gasket could seal all around. Gasket I used was .005" thick.
The pressure at idle, hot is now about 1/4 up the gage and goes over 1/2 way at wot
