White smoke usually means coolant in the cylinders. Bluish smoke means oil is being burnt. Black smoke means fuel issues...usually too rich.
The fact that you are seeing fuel drip can mean that the float is not closing the valve or that it is closing it too late but I don"t think it means white smoke.
